Good communication and engagement leads to the delivery of high quality services and to be successful in improving health services we want to include local people.

One way of getting involved is to join your local PPG or Patient Participation Group.

Members are usually patients at the practice or people associated with it. Some groups meet in person; others are ‘virtual’ groups with members communicating with their practice online.

Patient Participation Groups exist in most of the practices in Dorset and new members are always welcome. You can find out more about your own PPG by speaking to a member of staff at your practice.

Another example is the Our Dorset Patient Engagement Group (PEG), a group which acts as a ‘critical friend’ to local health and care services.

The PEG is made up of around 25 people from different backgrounds who listen to plans and give feedback to the partner organisations. More on the work of the PEG can be found via the Our Dorset website.
